Shalom Everyone~
Thought we would open up a new thread for the beginning of months so we can share with each other our new moon reports. For us here in NE Indiana the sky was mostly clear except a bit cloudy and hazy to the extreme west, which diminished visibility for a sighting of the crescent. Which was at approximately .011 at approximately 7:50 p.m. following very closely to the setting sun, our view was obscured.
Although; we have heard reports that the moon had been sighted in other places. See link:

On monday 5/5 @ 1218 UT (1418 JT), the lunar conjunction will occur.
The next sunset will be monday evening, making tuesday 5/6 the New Moon day, for those using the conjunction.
The next dawn will be monday morning, so 5/6 is valid for both the "dawn" and "even" folks.
(I'm not sure when it'll be for those going by & living near the 1000 mph "travelling dateline", or for those waiting on visibility.)

Sadly, there was no new moon this month for those who look for the crescent, at least not in my locality. Either that, or you're going to have a 27/28 day month.
I just spotted the moon & Venus @5:40pm EST, but i gotta go back out & look for Jupiter again. I really hated missing the "triple conjunction" last night due to the cloud cover.
BTW, does anyone know what the "RD" & "RM" symbols mean in the area that shows the posting date?

I was working with the language portion of the forum and found I could take out the pagan names of the weeks/months; I replaced them with RD - Roman Day and RM - Roman Month. But couldn't see where it had any effect. I realize now that you are the lone user of the other forum set up and didn't look to see how it effected your posts. Sorry I should've said something. ~dawn

I might have caught on sooner if the month had been first (m/d/y) vs the day (d/m/y). Having learned what the first 2 numbers are, i just now noticed a "stray" number (i'm not sure what it is) - the '02' in the following example: RD 3 RM 12 02, 2008 8:15 pm . Also, what is the counterpart of the "other forum setup" that you say i'm the "lone user" of? We all tend to "like" what we're used to, but if there's a better setup, please elucidate, and i may 'convert'. Thanx again, and please excuse my ignorance.

Hi Chuck, That's a simple one: RD 3 = 'tues-day' RM 12 = december 02 = second day of december IOW, it's the third day of the roman week but the second day of the roman calendar. chuckbaldwin wrote: Also, what is the counterpart of the "other forum setup" that you say i'm the "lone user" of? Surely, just go to the user control panel and you will see somewhere a tab for board preferences. Just choose Milky Way; press the submit button, and voila, you see what we all see. If I remember right, it seems that it was too small for you to read comfortably or something. But, I've made a lot of changes so you may find it better now. chuckbaldwin wrote: Thanx again, and please excuse my ignorance. That's okay, Chuck. Surely by now you've learned that ignorance can be cured. LOL!! ~dawn

Thanks again Dawn, I assumed that 'RD' was the day of the month vs the weekday; no wonder i was confused. I tried the 3 different Board Styles, and found that the other 2 still have much smaller print, so i'll stick with 'Subsilver2'. p.s. I just noticed the current date/time at the top of the page (and also on my post) reads: "It is currently RD 6 RM 12 05, 2008 1:47 am"It should read: "It is currently RD 5 RM 12 04, 2008 11:23 pm"That's about a 2 hr, 24 min discrepancy.
